Spire: Commercial & Industrial – Custom Rebate

Program summary
Spire’s Custom rebate is available to customers for installation of any natural gas related energy efficiency improvement that does not qualify for a standard rebate. Rebate amounts are individually determined by project, must achieve a minimum two-year payback, and be pre-approved prior to any equipment being purchased. Pre-approval emails will be sent within four weeks of receiving a completed application and required documentation.

Rebate amounts are calculated as the lesser of:

A buy-down to a two-year payback
-
$6.63 per MCF saved during the first year

Opportunity
An open opportunity to implement custom energy efficiency improvements and receive a rebate to
lessen the upfront cost of the project.

Funding
-
Incentive/funding details. Custom projects are analyzed and pre-approved using the program benefit/cost criteria determined by incremental savings, project cost and payback. Projects must achieve a minimum two-year payback to qualify. Custom rebates are paid to the customer after the pre-approved project has been installed.

Contract structure. No contract required. Project must be pre-approved. Qualifying
measures/equipment must be installed by a licensed professional. -
Rebate Amount (max, min, average). ​Commercial and Industrial customers may receive up to $100,000 in total rebates per Spire’s program year (October 1 to September 30)

Pairing with other sources. Available to pair with Spire’s Standard Rebates.

Process

When in the project process an application should be started/completed. Pre-approval is required. Pre-approved projects must be implemented/installed within six months of the date of approval, and all invoice(s) and other required project documentation must be submitted within eight months of the date of pre-approval.

Level of effort required. Application must include Spire account number, customer, and contractor information, proposed equipment and project cost information, along with a thorough description of the project. Proof of
purchase documents and additional equipment documentation (if required) must also be submitted.
All rebates can be reassigned. -
Length of time to receive funding. Rebate check will be mailed in four to six weeks after a completed application is received.

Contractor requirements. The customer must hire a licensed contractor for installation.

needs. Custom rebates help lower the cost of the capital investment. -

Program fit for customer. Businesses wanting to increase their buildings energy efficiency and lower their utility bill, by performing a more extensive energy efficiency upgrade while reducing their upfront capital costs.
